Think about your body for a moment. It's made up of many parts. You've got your hands, your feet, your nose, your eyes, and even those tonsils. Each part plays an important role in order for your body to function. If one part stops working the way it should, your body runs into problems. Everything works together so that the body can function healthily.
As Christians, we make up Christ's body. The church is the body of Christ. And we, each, are members of that body. God has given us each different gifts and roles to play in the church. We each have a unique purpose given to us from God. In 1 Corinthians, Paul tells us that, "...God has placed the parts in the body, every one of them, just as he wanted them to be..." Our gifting and our roles are no accident. They were given to us from God Himself!
At Bara Church we believe that we will have the greatest impact on people's lives for the gospel whenever we are all working together and living out the individual roles that God has given us. It's not when a select few, but when the whole body unifies together for the singular goal of living for Christ, who is the head of the body, that we function properly. When we unite and serve together as a body of believers, there is no limit to what God can do through us.
We believe strongly that Christians should identify what their gifts are, and in turn use them to serve the church. One way that we try to help believers identify their gifts is through taking the Boom! test. We have found that it is a useful resource to assist people in beginning to grasp what their spiritual gifting is.
