Why did you get baptized?

Because I had grown up believing In God, but never actually followed God. I had kept a good distance and in the past three years I had grown up a lot and began to turn to God for help.

Also in celebration. I had turned into not only a believer of God, but a follower. I wanted to celebrate that and make it known.

Is there anything else you would like to share with others about your story?

I am very thankful and blessed with all the amazing leaders and mentors I have had in my life. Without them I know I would be in a much different place in my life, and for that I'm forever grateful for them being in my life, and for all they have done to help me through everything whether it be good or bad.

Is there anything else you would like to share with others about your story?

Why did you get baptized?

I got baptized because I accepted Christ into my heart and into my life in July of 2013 and doing so completely changed my life. Baptism is a public confession of faith, and I felt it was time for me to show the world that I love The Lord and appreciate everything He has done for me. Baptism, for me, was the final step in giving myself to my Father, a way to show Him and the people close to me that I'm willing to dedicate the life He gave me to glorifying His name and following in Christ's ways.

How did you feel when you were baptized?

My baptism was an absolutely blissful moment between God and myself. Going under felt like the most natural thing the world, like I was brushing off all of my sin in the water and coming up as a new person. I had nothing but peace and joy in my heart. I was so content afterward, I didn't have a care in the world and the only thing on my mind was, "Woah, I just gave my life to God. God is with me, right now, and He always will be. I am forgiven."

What would you say to someone thinking about getting baptized?

You will know when the time is right. Get baptized by someone you know and trust, it will help calm your nerves and make the experience seamless. Getting baptized is one of the best decisions I've ever made. Don't be afraid to ask questions. If you do get baptized, remember the gravity of what you are about to do. You're going to give your life to Christ! Jesus Himself was baptized, and now you're doing the same. Clear your mind and have a private moment with The Lord. As you're answering the questions, try to comprehend what you're agreeing to. Baptism is a big deal! This is a milestone in your life that you will never forget.

Is there anything else you would like to share with others about your story?

Being baptized has allowed me to see that my sin doesn't define me. God loves me in spite of my sinful nature and He forgives me for my indiscretions. I trust in Him with my whole being and that trust has given me overwhelming peace and understanding in life. This life is a journey that ends in heaven with my Savior; accepting Him into my life and giving Him my sin has made this abundantly clear. My story has already been written by One who is much greater than myself, and I have been granted the extraordinary gift of giving color to the pages of that wonderful story. In this knowledge, I am secure and steady. I know that I am loved much more than I could ever comprehend.

Why did you get baptized?

I got baptized because my life had truly been changed by God at camp. I didn't just have a fun one week experience in Colorado, making new friends and enjoying the view. I felt God speak to me and impact my life in ways he never has before and that's when I knew I wanted to rededicate my life to Him.

How did you feel when you were baptized?

I felt new. I felt refreshed, like what ever happened before that moment and afterwards was erased and I was brand new. I felt empowered, honored and, most importantly, loved.

What would you say to someone thinking about getting baptized?

I would tell someone thinking about getting baptized that it is no rush. It's not something you need to feel like you're being forced into it. You'll know when you're ready, and when you are, it will happen, and you'll feel an indescribable love and joy.

Is there anything else you would like to share with others about your story?

I would just like to share that I'm far from perfect. It's very cliché, and nobody is by any means, but I used to feel like some people expected to absolute best from me always. I became tired of that reputation and grew apart from some of the things and people that made me whole and happy. I started making the wrong decisions. I learned that others having high expectations for me wasn't something to be annoyed with or not proud of. Some expectations may be difficult to rise to, but they still can be reached. It is better to be the one who's expected to work hard to succeed and be happy, rather than to be the one with no expectations from others.
